COSTA  BRAVA

Ampuriabrava.:-This is a very nice place to stop over, but in our opinion rather expensive. It is a canalised township, and one can spend a pleasant time wandering around . It is not unusual to find empty mooring places at the end of the gardens, and one could be tempted to use one. I am sure that if contacted the owners would agree.  There is a very  significant British community here, which follows a very busy social scene.  A very nice place but beware it does get very very windy

Port Vell                We loved it here and spent a week here. The staff and marineros are most helpful. The security was good with a guard and guard dog on hand all night and never no more than about 100 m away at any time.  The berth was quiet and was almost at the entrance to the city centre. Well recommended.

Port Olympic  We found it to be expensive but worth a visit.

Marina del Este            This is a very pretty port. We would recommend a visit. The entrance is a little deceiving and the fuel is a little dearer.
Cabopino wpe22.jpg (75163 bytes)
Benalmadena    wpe20.jpg (71848 bytes)            This is a very impressive and pretty place but is becoming very commercial and more noisy at night. The berths on the Islands and pontoons enjoy fair security, but those berths else-where have little or no security, in spite of an infrequent patrol from the Capitania. The new installation of the "Gardia Civil" at the port adds to its importance. There is said to be a 2 year waiting list for berths, But there appears to be a fair change over of berths.
Fuengirola :- wpe1C.jpg (66145 bytes)quite a popular stopping place, since it no more than a few yards ( sorry ) metres away from the town and restaurants which are numerous. One restaurant in particular , had an excellent evening of amateur entertainment all free for those eating and those unable to get a table and crowded around the entrance. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
Banus      wpe17.jpg (64319 bytes)                       Said to be the millionaires port. We found the Marineros and staff very polite and helpful, and when we were obliged to pull in their one time, we  found the berth holders either side of us inexperienced but very friendly. Though we did encounter others who thought we carried a smell about with us. The port is most conveniently placed along side an enormous super store where every thing was available. " Cortez Ingles"

Sheppards    We were unimpressed with the principality, though I must say that the civic authority have made a number of improvements recently. Ships "stores" are available at extremely attractive prices as is the fuel. So take maximum advantage of your visit.
Queensway   This is the most attractive port of the three, and I will probably chose to stay there next visit. I am told that there is some swell experienced there.
Marina Bay  Very obliging staff and usually berths are available. Some berths are allocated along side and quite close to the restaurants and chandlers
